Our Work > Mobile Health Services

This service has been transitioned back to the government of Andhra Pradesh.

HMRI’s Mobile Health Services sends technology-enabled mobile medical units (MMUs) to habitations beyond three kilometers of the nearest public health service provider to provide medical care to the rural populace. Each MMU visits a pre-determined habitation on a fixed date every month, thereby ensuring continuity of care. Focus areas of healthcare provision include maternal and child health in addition to the management and diagnosis of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and epilepsy, etc.

Andhra Pradesh launched this service in August 2008 as 104 Mobile. 104 Mobile deployed 475 MMUs to 22 districts throughout Andhra Pradesh in partnership with the state of Andhra Pradesh. Currently the operations of 104 Mobile are with the Ministry of Health under the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

HMRI launched Sanjeevani in Assam in February 2011 by deploying 80 MHUs to all 27 districts of Assam.
