HMRI bags Manthan South Asia Award

HMRI bagged the prestigious ‘Manthan South Asia 2008 Award’ for best e-content for health services in Andhra Pradesh. The Award is in recognition to HMRI’s work in taking health care to the last mile using state of the art technology.


The Manthan Award is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India to recognise the best practices in e-content for development. It has been launched by New Delhi-based Digital Empowerment Foundation in partnership with World Summit Award and American India Foundation. The Award serves as a platform to bring together e-content stakeholders across South Asia and recognise pioneering work in development, creation and dissemination of e-content for grassroots empowerment and development.


Dr. Balaji Utla, CEO – HMRI, received the Manthan South Asia 2008 Award at a function in New Delhi. HMRI was highly praised for its work in improving healthcare services for people across the state of Andhra Pradesh through an integrated digital health platform.


The award citation presented to HMRI says, ““Healthcare reaches the masses through meticulous planning, integrated infrastructure, ICT enablement, Government support and passionate concern for the need of healthcare by the masses. HMRI has converted this vision into reality”. ;.


Dr. Balaji Utla and Dr. A.P. Ranga Rao, Advisor – HMRI, called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to apprise him of the Award along with the certificate of appreciation given to HMRI. The Chief Minister complimented the HMRI team and wished it good luck in its future endeavors.
